A Message from Dr. Coley

Fostering diversity and inclusion in academic and scientific settings is crucial for advancing knowledge, encouraging open communication, and cultivating diverse perspectives in scientific ideologies. Yet, in the realm of STEM, a challenge persists: the underrepresentation of minorities, especially African-Americans, in the scientific community. It's a challenge I take to heart, fueled by a deep sense of duty to empower the next generation of scientists by serving as a relatable role model, offering inspiration, and breaking down barriers faced by minority students interested in STEM careers. With a genuine passion for creating a more inclusive scientific environment, I am implementing innovative initiatives to ensure that aspiring scientists of color feel welcomed and supported on their unique journey in the world of science.
